A troop of twenty langur monkeys, ten of which are adults males or females without infants at the moment and are therefore free to travel with him. They are hugely devoted to Hanuman and inured to humans, technology, and general weirdness. Hanuman has trained them to understand a private battle language resembling their natural cries; individually or as a group, on command, they can attack, retreat, restrain, hide, follow, track, fetch, lead to, be silent, or recognize another (usually one of the bandar-rishis) as an appointed deputy of Hanuman. They know perfectly well when Hanuman has designated someone as the enemy and when they have been called off.
